Monitoring in Small Firms: Experimental Evidence from Kenyan Public Transit
ARE alumni '19 Erin Kelley and Gregory Lane introduce monitoring devices into commuter minibuses in Kenya and randomize which minibus owners have access to the data using a novel mobile app. They find that treated vehicle owners modify the terms of the contract to induce higher effort and lower risk taking from their drivers, reducing firm costs and increasing firm profitability. Guojun He Recieves Under Forty Award from the EAERE
The European Award for Researchers in Environmental Economics under the Age of Forty is a recognition given every year to the environmental economist under the age of forty who is judged to have made the most significant contribution to environmental economic thought and knowledge. ARE alumnus '14 Guojun He is currently a professor in Economics and Management & Strategy at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Congratulations Guojun!
