Water’s ability to generate value in irrigated agriculture is poorly understood at the global scale. This new study provides a global assessment of irrigation water value as a function of the geographic location and the crops grown. They find that much of the actual crop distribution around the word does not maximize agricultural water value.
ARE Professor David Zilberman shared this enthusiastic comment about this collaboration, "I joined a team headed by ESPM's Paolo D'Odorico and it was a really satisfying and multidisciplinary collaboration within RCNR. It was really fun and beneficial."
